Punjab Launches Free-Insulin Home Delivery Programme Under CM Maryam Nawaz

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a comprehensive free insulin home-delivery programme. This initiative provides essential diabetes medication to both children and adults across the province. The service directly delivers insulin to patients’ homes. Consequently, it eliminates long pharmacy queues, repeated hospital visits, and burdensome travel expenses. Ultimately, the government aims to make critical diabetes management easier and more reliable for every household.

A Service for All Diabetic Patients

Earlier government health programmes primarily targeted children with type-1 diabetes. However, the latest campaign explicitly includes all diabetic patients who complete registration, regardless of their age. Official campaign materials carry the clear, reassuring message: “Na qataarein, na pareshani — Insulin ab aapki dehleez par” (No queues, no hassle — Insulin is now at your doorstep).

Therefore, diabetic patients throughout Punjab can now access uninterrupted insulin supplies without leaving their homes. This expansion represents a significant shift toward more inclusive and patient-centered healthcare in the province.

How the Programme Works

The programme operates through a streamlined, user-friendly process:

  1. Registration: Patients can call the dedicated 1033 helpline, scan a QR code on official posters, or fill out an online form via the Punjab Health Department’s portal.

  2. Verification: Health officials then verify the provided information and issue a unique CM Insulin ID to the patient.

  3. Delivery: Authorised delivery teams subsequently bring the insulin directly to the patient’s registered address on a regular schedule.

Additionally, the network of Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Clinics provides crucial support. They guide enrolled patients through follow-up consultations, medical counseling, and long-term disease management.

A Lifeline for Families Across Punjab

This programme is designed to be a lifeline, offering particular support to key groups:

  • Elderly patients for whom travel is difficult.

  • Working adults with limited time for clinic visits.

  • Low-income families for whom insulin cost was a major burden.

  • Parents managing a child’s diabetes alongside daily responsibilities.

  • Rural residents who live far from major healthcare facilities.

A Cornerstone of Health Reform

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has consistently prioritized access to essential medicines. This free insulin delivery service is a key component of her broader “Sehatmand Punjab” vision. This vision focuses on upgrading basic health clinics, providing free medicines, and ensuring patient-friendly services.

“No diabetic patient should struggle for treatment due to distance, cost, or a lack of transport,” stated the Chief Minister. “Reliable access to insulin can prevent severe complications and protect thousands of families from health emergencies.”

A Simple Path to Consistent Care

Enrollment is straightforward. Eligible patients can register by calling 1033, scanning official QR codes, using the online portal, or visiting their nearest NCD Clinic for assistance. After registration, patients receive consistent monthly insulin supplies at home. As a result, they avoid the stress and cost of unnecessary hospital trips.

A Major Step Toward a Healthier Punjab

With diabetes affecting millions, this programme offers major relief. It transforms daily treatment for countless families. By ensuring reliable access, it helps patients achieve better glucose control, lowers long-term health risks, and reduces household medical expenses. Overall, this initiative marks a significant and compassionate step toward building a healthier, more accessible Punjab for all.
