Pakistan Showcases Locally Developed Anti-Drone Safrah Gun

In a strategic move to counter unauthorized drones, Pakistan’s National Electronics Complex (NEC) has unveiled its domestically developed “SAFRAH Drone Jamming Gun.” The advanced system was a highlight of the ongoing Karachi Maritime Expo. Furthermore, engineers designed it to secure national borders and critical infrastructure, signaling a major push towards self-reliance in defense technology.

The Safrah system is specifically a non-kinetic countermeasure. It works by disrupting the command and control links of hostile drones. With an operational range of 1.5 kilometers, it consequently provides a substantial buffer against cross-border incursions.

“The system’s core strength is its ability to not just disrupt, but to dominate the aerial threat,” explained Hamza Khalid, a manager at the firm. “The Safrah gun can sever the drone’s connection to its operator. From there, we can either seize navigational control to capture it or force a safe landing. As a result, this process neutralizes the threat without the collateral damage of explosives.”

A key feature is its adjustable jamming cone, which operates on a default 30-degree arc. This focused beam, therefore, allows for precision targeting in dense environments like urban centers. Additionally, its precision minimizes disruption to friendly electronic systems during high-profile events.

The system’s capabilities extend beyond single drones. For instance, engineers engineered it to counter the modern challenge of drone swarms. Moreover, it can dismantle coordinated attacks, making it vital for protecting strategic locations. This is particularly important for places where multiple, simultaneous threats could overwhelm conventional defenses.

Pakistan’s “Safrah” gun effectively counters kamikaze drones within a 1.5 km range. It disrupts their signals, forcing them to land or be captured without a kinetic strike.
