At Least 12 Martyred, Over Two Dozen Injured in Islamabad Suicide Blast

ISLAMABAD — A suicide bomber attempted to breach a bustling Islamabad courthouse on Tuesday. Security personnel thwarted him at the gates. Consequently, the attacker detonated his explosives at the perimeter. This calculated act of carnage killed at least 12 people and wounded more than 30. Officials are now describing the event as a sophisticated, externally-plotted attack.

The Attack Sequence

The timeline of terror began just after noon. The attacker, a single operative according to officials, approached the main security checkpoint. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that security personnel prevented the man from entering the main building. Thwarted in his goal, the bomber then turned and detonated his explosive vest next to a parked police vehicle. This action magnified the blast’s deadly force.

The explosion shattered windows and twisted metal. Immediately, it turned a hub of legal procedure into a chaotic triage zone. Rescue workers rushed to the scene amidst the sirens and smoke.

The Investigation Unfolds

Meanwhile, investigators made a critical discovery in the aftermath. They recovered the intact head of the suspected bomber. This grisly clue now offers a potential breakthrough for identifying the perpetrator and his network. Authorities have sent the evidence to a forensic lab.

Simultaneously, the investigation took a sharp geopolitical turn. Intelligence sources revealed that threatening messages from Afghanistan-based social media accounts had circulated hours before the blast. These accounts issued vague warnings about impending action in the capital. Consequently, this digital footprint now forms a core part of the probe. Interior Minister Naqvi cited the “many links” of the attack, with initial findings pointing toward “foreign-backed groups.”

The Aftermath and Response

The human cost became starkly clear at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). A hospital spokesperson confirmed the receipt of 12 bodies and over 30 injured patients. Unfortunately, five victims remain in critical condition.

Condemnation from the nation’s leadership was swift and universal. Both the presidency and the prime minister’s office vowed to hunt down the perpetrators. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif framed the attack as a grim “wake-up call” in an ongoing war.

Furthermore, the international community echoed this sentiment. The US and UK missions issued strong statements of condemnation and solidarity.
